The Russell Martin Foundation Awarded Premier League Funding for Adult Health and Wellbeing Project in Worthing

The Russell Martin Foundation (RMF) is proud to announce it has been awarded new funding from the Premier League to run a health and wellbeing project for adults in Worthing.

RMF is one of only a few organisations chosen, alongside Football Community Schemes and two other player-led charities, the Jason Roberts Foundation and the Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust.

Leading the project is ex-footballer Charlie Oatway, with support from former players Danny Cullip and Chris Whelpdale, along with the RMF team.

The programme will focus on a wide range of adult health activities designed to engage local families and help them build long-term wellbeing habits. Activities will include walking football, yoga sessions, and community gardening, all tailored to create accessible, inclusive spaces for adults to improve their physical health and mental wellbeing.

Danny Cullip said: “I’m thrilled to be part of this project. We know how important it is to get people moving, connecting, and supporting each other — both physically and mentally. Football has always been about community, and this programme gives us a chance to give something meaningful back.”

Dave Palmer, PFA, added: “I’m delighted that RMF is part of the Premier League/PFA pilot programme. I know that one of the reasons Russell set the foundation up was to employ professional and ex-professional footballers to work in the local community where they have so much to offer.”
