Let's Dance

About us

Our Let's Dance programmes provide fun dance and healthy physical activity opportunities for everyone. We work alongside schools, colleges, other community groups and charities to offer classes and events for those with little or no experience. And we promote performance dance for young people aged 5-18 at grass roots level through the production of dance shows in recognised local theatres.

We strive to help people of all backgrounds express themselves through all types of dance and movement, providing an inclusive and friendly atmosphere in which they can have fun and flourish. We encourage schools and groups to enter our dance shows irrespective of ability, with the hope that this inspires a lasting love of dance, with individuals carrying on dancing beyond their Let's Dance experience.

In addition to our live performances, we provide a variety of other engagement opportunities including classes and workshops led by qualified, professional dancers. Our ethos is to encourage and celebrate mass participation in dance and we seek to provide the highest quality of dance and performance opportunities to people of all ages and abilities.

We are planning a selection of fun and engaging Let's Dance activities for individuals of all ages.

Health

A key aim of our Let’s Dance programmes is to offer participants the chance to improve their mental, emotional and physical health. Through dance as well as the sports and other services that Russell Martin Foundation delivers individuals may work towards each of these aspects of their personal development.

Education

We believe dance is a great tool to help all age groups to build healthier lifestyle habits, enhance their social and team building skills, and increase self-confidence. In our classes and workshops, we use dance as a vehicle to talk about nutrition and mental and physical well-being. In our live shows, schools can theme their individual piece to tie in with their curriculum projects to encourage more holistic learning.

Volunteers

We offer opportunities for young leaders from local schools and for volunteers from local business, as well as development opportunities for young dance professionals including mentoring and coaching.

Background

Let’s Dance was founded in Sussex by Andy Marchant (1950–2025), a PE teacher, whose vision was for individuals and communities to be active but also ensuring that dance and physical activity remain a high priority in schools and colleges.

VISION

Andy was a wonderful ambassador for all sports and dance, and a tireless advocate for giving young people of all backgrounds and abilities equal opportunities to take part.

Inspiration

Andy was an inspiration to all who worked with him.

LEGACY

The Russell Martin Foundation is committed to ensure Andy Marchant’s Let’s Dance vision and legacy lives on by continuing to offer Let’s Dance shows and widening dance participation opportunities to our local schools, colleges and community groups across Sussex.
