Mentoring for Health – Powered by the PFA
We are proud to deliver the Mentoring for Health programme, made possible thanks to the generous support of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) through the Premier League Charitable Fund.
This innovative programme pairs experienced mentors with participants who want to improve their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Our mentors bring a unique blend of skills – from health coaching and motivational interviewing to lived experience in sport – to support participants in setting achievable goals and building the confidence to reach them.
What We Do
One-to-One Mentoring – Personalised sessions to help participants improve health behaviours, such as increasing physical activity, making healthy food choices, and building resilience.
Community Connections – Linking participants to local opportunities for sport, wellbeing activities, and social engagement.
Sustainable Change – Supporting participants to develop habits and skills that last well beyond the programme.
Making an Impact
The Mentoring for Health programme has already helped participants:
Improve daily activity levels
Make healthier lifestyle choices
Build self-esteem and confidence
Reduce isolation by engaging in new social and sporting opportunities
A Participant’s Story
CP, a 21-year-old on probation, was living at home with his mum and sisters, had very low confidence, and rarely went anywhere without his mum. He had few friends and struggled to connect socially, but he had a strong interest in football. Through the Mentoring for Health programme, we introduced him to a local football club. He is now attending regularly, playing as part of a team, and is a valued member of a group that has fully accepted him.
