Developing the next generation of coaches through RMF apprenticeships
The Russell Martin Foundation is welcoming apprentices into its football programmes, creating opportunities to learn, build confidence and gain practical coaching experience.
Led by Ben Howlett, RMF’s Director of Football, the apprentices are learning how to plan and deliver football sessions, while shadowing experienced RMA coaches to see those skills in action.
Working alongside our coaching team gives them the chance to ask questions, learn different approaches and understand how to support players with a range of abilities and needs. As they develop, they will take on more responsibility and contribute to sessions across the Foundation.
For RMF, apprentices bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and new perspectives. For the apprentices, it is an opportunity to learn from experienced coaches and develop skills that can support a future within sport.
Inclusion is central to this approach. By opening up opportunities to learn and contribute, we want to help more people feel part of the Foundation and see a place for themselves in the sport.
“Apprenticeships give us a great opportunity to help people develop through football. By working alongside our coaches, the apprentices can learn how to plan sessions, support different players and build the confidence to deliver sessions themselves. They bring energy and fresh ideas to the Foundation, and we want them to feel included, supported and able to grow.”
