A Heartfelt Tribute to a Beloved Friend and Colleague
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our friend and colleague Neil Avard after a short illness.
Many of those working for RMF have known Neil for a number of years, including Russell Martin who knew Neil as his Brighton Boys District Manager 25 years or so ago.
Neil was a valued colleague at RMF, and was able to access funds through his work with One Church for people in the local community in most need. Not only did he help people plan their route out of debt and poverty, but he was also insistent on delivering any goods personally to the individuals involved.
As a friend he was incredibly popular with his huge smile and wicked sense of humour but a with heart of gold.
Russell said:
“I’m so grateful for the times I shared with Neil who I called ‘Mr Avard’ or ‘Sir’ always. I had great fun playing in his and Alan’s Brighton Boys’ teams. They are still some of my fondest memories as a young player! Neil and Alan were a great team. I’d like to pass on my love and condolences to Neil’s family and friends. Neil made a great impression on so many people including myself and I’m grateful to have known him.”
On a personal note, this is a huge tragedy. I have known Neil since university days, when we both studied as prospective PE teachers and my heart goes out to his wife Shereen and his children, Alex, Max. Sadie and Anna

Neil’s family have said that they would be hugely appreciative of any donations made to the Martletts that gave incredible support to Neil throughout his illness.
