KS3 Extra Time Project – Crawley (2 Days per Week)
The Russell Martin Foundation’s Extra Time Project (ETP) in Crawley offers a supportive, structured, and engaging part-time provision for Key Stage 3 students who may find a full-time mainstream setting challenging. Running two days per week, this targeted programme is designed to help students build confidence, develop resilience, and re-engage with learning in a positive and nurturing environment. ETP serves as both a motivational stepping stone and a restorative break, supporting students to eventually return to mainstream education with renewed focus and self-belief. The curriculum is carefully designed to be accessible and relevant:
Science is taught through the lens of environmental issues, encouraging inquiry and critical thinking.
Maths is embedded in real-life contexts to develop essential life skills.
English is explored through journalling, social stories, and reflective writing to build literacy and emotional expression.
PSHE plays a central role, helping students understand and manage their emotions while building self-esteem, emotional literacy, and interpersonal skills.
In addition to academic learning, the programme includes a rich variety of extracurricular activities, such as:
Visits from outside speakers
Cooking sessions
Multi-sports activities
Enrichment opportunities that promote teamwork, wellbeing, and social development
Every student works towards clear, personalised goals, with regular reviews to track progress and identify next steps. Our aim is to ensure each young person leaves ETP better equipped, both emotionally and academically, to thrive in a full-time educational setting.
