The Russell Martin Foundation Football Development Team consists of our expert officers who oversee the Academy participation strand of the charity.

The Russell Martin Academy supports young people aged 5-19 year, providing opportunities for players of all abilities to maximise their potential through a range of different training, challenges and activities.

RMA provides an array of football services, from Professional Development Centres and Elite sessions supporting a clear competitive pathway to recreational opportunities such as our primary schools football programme, holiday courses and utilisation of our Street Mark accreditation in partnership with StreetGames UK.

All of our Russell Martin Academy provision sets a standard of expert coach delivery ensuring that appropriate FA Level 1, FA Level 2, FA Level 3/UEFA B and UEFA A Licensed Coaches are appropriately utilised across all provision.

RMA POST-16 FOOTBALL EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

The Russell Martin Academy Football Development programme is an outstanding opportunity for young talented footballers between the ages of 16-19 to continue their academic and footballing career development. Our two hub sites include Varndean College (Brighton, East Sussex) and Ifield Community College (Crawley, West Sussex).

Both programmes provide the chance for players to combine an intensive 11-a-side football training and college fixture programme with showcase games against professional teams during the season.

Our Football Educations programmes include:

• Full time training programme delivered by UEFA A Licensed Coach, Jay Lovett and UEFA B Licensed Coach, Sergio Torres.

• Strength and conditioning programmes with excellent training facilities.

• Regular competition with English Colleges FA Regional League and Sussex Schools U19 League.

Russell Martin will also operate as a guest coach taking many sessions with the players throughout the year. RMA wishes to help students with pathways into sports careers and higher education and to aid this there will be regular lectures from highly regarded professional people in sport in Psychology, Physiotherapy, Sports science, Coaching, Nutrition, Analysis, Leadership and more.

PROGRAMMES & PROJECTS

Our primary school football provision consists of the delivery of lunchtime clubs, afterschool clubs and extra-curricular support throughout many Sussex schools.

Our primary school football programme also provides PPA cover and support for teaching personnel ensuring a high quality staff support service and delivery.

Our School Holiday Courses operate across Sussex delivered throughout all academic breaks during the year by our specialist Community Coaching team. Providing a variety of specialist football courses alongside multi-sport weeks in a fun, inclusive environment.

All our Community Coaching team operate with a minimum of an FA Level 1 Coaching qualification, FA Emergency Aid, FA Safeguarding Children qualification and currently hold an approved FA CRC.

Through our StreetGames Doorstep Sports Club provision RMA delivered a variety of community sport programmes to young people in disadvantaged towns and communities throughout Sussex.

The Russell Martin Academy delivers a weekly futsal programme at Shoreham Academy, West Sussex for young people aged 10 – 16 delivered by our Level 2 Futsal Coach, Chris Day.

RMA SOCCERELLA FOOTBALL PROGRAMME

Delivered in partnership with specialist women’s kit providers, Soccerella, our RMA Soccerella Football programme oversees our specialist girls football provision delivered by Georgia Bridges, Women and Girls Football Development Officer.

RMA delivered weekly girls football sessions at Shoreham Academy, West Sussex and participants can secure their place via our booking page.

RMA delivers bespoke girls football programmes as part of our primary school football offer, predominantly delivered in 6-week blocks by our Community Coaching team.

The Russell Martin Foundation delivers its annual RMA Soccerella Girls Football in July at Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College with our 2017 festival seeing over 250 young females aged 9 – 15 participating throughout the day.
